X Box Live Starter KitI eagerly anticipated the arrival of this kit so I could play Live. The headset is well built and appears to do the job online. It is, however, rubbish for singleplayer Rainbow Six 3. I can’t be bothered to say “hold” a dozen times “demo-up… demo-up…... DEMO-UP!” I end-up swearing and then Eddie breaches a door instead! Use the game-pad. You only get 2 old demos… I’m a bit peeved at that, they have much more choice in the USA, why not us? You get 1 year Live subscription, downloadable content etc Anyway, it gets the job done. But only 3 stars (3.5 really) for lack of new demos and dubious singleplayer usefulness of the headset,…. Although £30 is a good price for the kit.

Live is amazing. Voice changes everything. You feel silly at first, but pretty soon, playing online without voice just seems wrong. Without it you might as well be playing against bots. Friends lists and gamertags complete the perfect online service. Get it now. Youll not regret it. Oh, and someone mentioned the headset being poor. Not so. Its excellent. Well made, comfy, good sound, excellent mic. If you wear it properly, then the neck band will be just that, down near your neck, and you can lean back, head against the couch all you like. Though with Live, youll be on the edge of your seat. Ive had mine a year now and have just ordered my new subscription.

When i first heared that Microsoft were releasing this service to the xbox in november 2002, i signed-up for the beta phase and since then not looked back!!!! Its like another world completely where the time just flys by. You can even create your own friends list, downlaod addtional content, compete in tournaments and now theres so many great games coming on the live service than ever before...including halo 2!! The best £39.99 i ever spent and with 2 cool demos, headset, case, memory card (beta phase pack only) you cant go wrong. Sice i bought my pack, theyve added another demo, Mechassault, which i bought too. Just make sure your ISP is compatable with your xbox first.
